Sally Kellerman

It was so exciting coming to the set every day! We had a fantastic, lovely man and brilliant art director Leon Ericksen who was the one who got me the magazines and I said, "Oh, so I should just go all the way with this character!" And he said, "Yeah, and I think you should wear garters." I was always worried about being fat, so I didn't want to wear garters under my clothes, but the day Leon brought them in, I went out into the middle of the compound and said, "Okay Leon, I got your garters right here!" And Bob walks by and say, "Oh. Garters. Come with me" Then that was me stepping out of the helicopter with the garters showing.

Und der Film bescherte ihr lebenslangen Notorietät: I'm most notably remembered as Hot Lips Houlihan, schreibt sie in ihrer Autobiographie Read My lipsRecently, as I walked through New York City, a truck driver leaned out the window and yelled, “Hey, Hot Lips!” That put a big crooked smile on my face. Anything that keeps me connected to Bob Altman makes me happy.

In Alan Rudolphs Welcome to LA

Zumal sie da hätte singen dürfen: Altman called me from 'McCabe and Mrs. Miller', saying 'Would you be in my picture after next?' I had no idea what it was. I was in that arrogant place where I was believing my own publicity, and here's a man I loved and was a close friend and backed everything I did, particularly my music, and I'm turning him down! I said, 'Is it a big part?' and he hung up on me. He was as arrogant as I was. I found out later it was 'Nashville'. Ronee Blakley was so incredible. I certainly wouldn't have been that. I wouldn't have wanted to do it if it meant not having her in it.

Sally Kellerman hat einmal gesagt I was an idiot in terms of career-building, but I had a great time.

This is my memoir. In my case, that means anything I can remember. This is a collection of experiences that made me laugh or cry, of people I’ve loved, of lessons I’ve learned and have yet to learn. There is some X-rated language and the odd X-rated visual description. If that bothers you, too bad. My mom, a darling, five-foot-two, piano-playing Arkansan, was a warm, slightly judgmental, spiritual, generous, thoughtful, and kind person. She wanted me to be a lady. So did my dad, a funny, handsome, sentimental, good man who said what was on his mind, was a tad controlling and worried about how I’d turn out. Dad wanted a lady too. Too bad. Instead they got an actress, a singer, an entertainer. It hasn't been smooth or delightful every minute, there were lean years and rough years, but it's been exciting and good and I'm thrilled to be an actress and a singer and to have spent my life this way.

Oder dem beschwingten ➱Don't You Feel My Leg 1989.

Well, you know, I've had a very checkered career, hat sie solche Fragen kommentiert.
